Dr. Elana interviews Dr. Virdee on a very important topic that many parents may not be aware of– lead exposure in children. Most pediatricians test lead levels in the blood between 12-24 months, while some pediatricians don’t routinely offer this test. This episode aims to support you in knowing what to do if your child’s lead levels come back elevated! This interview is packed full of educational insights, prevention strategies and treatment options if you are in this situation.

Enjoy the listen! You can find us on iTunes, Stitcher or Spotify. We’d love to hear your thoughts on Instagram or Facebook.

Topics Discussed:

  • How lead can affect your child’s development
  • Where lead is found in our environment
  • What common items may be contaminated with lead
  • Different ways to easily test for lead exposure
  • How to get your child’s blood lead levels tested
  • Treatment options to help lower elevated lead levels
  • Resources available to help you understand more

Show Notes:

Dr. Virdee practices naturopathic medicine in Easton, Maryland. She graduated with high honors from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (SCNM), where she also completed her general medicine residency. She is often described as the missing link in her patients healthcare and focuses on empowering her patients to improve their health by educating them about their bodies and evidence based natural solutions. She has been published for her fieldwork in the fields of transplant medicine, asthma and allergy support, natural blood pressure management, and hormone balancing. When she’s not practicing medicine, you’ll find her enjoying the great outdoors, playing the drums and spending time with her family. To learn more or contact visit www.drkvirdee.com.
