Dr. Elana interviews birth educator, Care Messer. Care was Dr. Elana’s personal hypnobirthing instructor and she couldn’t help but share her on the podcast as she is full of knowledge, and passion, with a great sense of humor for all things birth related.

On today’s episode, they discuss how to prepare for a natural birth. You may be surprised with how many tips and details there are that can make a true difference in how you approach labor. Whether you are prepping for labor in the hospital, birth center, or home birth, this episode is for you!

Topics Discussed:

  • When parents should start preparing
  • Top 3 things parents need to do in preparing for birth
  • Why a birth plan/birth preferences is important to consider before the baby comes
  • Why postpartum prep is essential as part of preparing for birth
  • Most important postpartum tips for a smooth transition into parenthood

Show Notes:

After six miscarriages, Care fostered a five-year-old little girl, named Angie, whom she was finally able to adopt at eight years old. In 2008, Care discovered Hypnobirthing for the birth of her second daughter and it changed her life’s path. Her second daughter was born with severe special needs but it was her birth preparation that prepared her for such an unexpected postpartum time. Care began teaching Hypnobirthing in 2009 and founded the Birth Education Center in 2011. She is a Hypnotherapist, birth educator and a birth and postpartum doula. She specializes in fear release work, authentic communication and consciously connecting parents with their babies before they are born. It is her belief that babies can experience a “birth day” that is magical, loving, and gentle. When families take the time to resolve fears and advocate with their voice, birth can become a beautiful, positive experience.
